Project Status

In this page we cover the status of the MT-WY Connect project as of September 19, 2019.

Foundational Databases

Three databases in the form of three Google spreadsheets, respectively, are the foundation for the project:

• MT-WY Families Database, which contains all of the necessary contact information about each family in the MT-WY area.
• MT-WY Workers Database, which contains all of the necessary contact information about each worker in the MT-WY area or otherwise associated with the MT-WY staff.
• Conventions Database, which contains all of the necessary contact, dates, and location information about each convention in selected states.

The three database spreadsheets are not widely shared. However, they must be kept up to date by hand. That is—whether one person or many—some must be given shard editor rights on these spreadsheets and take charge of gathering updates and editing the spreadsheets to keep them current. All necessary documents to be used and/or shared are generated from these database spreadsheets by programs. Each time an editing session is completed on one of these databases, all of the documents derived from that database by programs are re-created (i.e, the programs are run again) to ensure that all of the derived documents are up to date with the database.

Sub-Projects

• A shared MT-WY Families spreadsheet. This spreadsheet has already been shared with the MT-WY staff, but there are more sheets (tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet) to generate.
• The hardcopy address book, which will continue to be printed as needed.
• A Google Contacts file, which can be used to update all MT-WY families contact information on various devices.
• A Web interface, which will make it possible for each worker to update the databases individually without needing to edit the database spreadsheets directly.
